A Hikoi of NZ to promote environment & community. Finding & documenting the stories that make our country great. & Helping anyway we can x
Nationwide
Sisters Hannah Irakau Pehi and Dr. Phillipa Te Paea Pehi are organising a journey of NZ on foot along main roads to share the stories of the people at a grassroots level who give of their time and hearts to ensure NZ is a wonderful place to be.
We are not politically or religiously aligned. We walk for the goodness of all.
The journey will take 6 months on our feet :) away from our homes and loved ones.
We already have a few people joining us:
Sam Halberg - interested in alternative technologies, Rongoa and Permaculture
Maia Pehi-Hannah, 13 years old, will be doing correspondence on the journey, will be sharing her experiences and story.
Michela Carrington - Prior career was helping youth in Dunedin. Has now stepped into the healing arts, exploring the power we all inherently have.
All who wish to walk with us along the way are welcome. We will have a support vehicle to carry the equipment required to house and feed ourselves and will be doing a max of 20-30km a day (4-6 hours of walking).
We will be stopping along the route in places to help as many groups and people as we can.
We need help with the costs of this journey if you are able, or simply your help and support along the way.
Please visit our web page for more details.
We hope to meet you along the way :)
I organised a walk for the summer of 2013/14, Kiwiwondering, completely self funded. My sister came along for this journey too at her own expense.
It was an amazing journey full of beautiful people and simply stunning stories of triumph.
Our stories and our collective knowledge are the answer to a better future. We wish to document this. To share this to let other people's experiences inspire others.
