A van would allow us to transport our whole pop-up store in one vehicle, carry three times as much stock, and give us a much further reach.
Koha Apparel is a not-for-profit, pay-as-you-can retail experience, using repurposed apparel. Our purpose is to provide protection from the elements, to improve the self-esteem of those most vulnerable in our local communities, by making quality clothing available to them. Now we’re looking to clothe more, to help more, and we need your support!
We distribute donated clothing through local pop-ups, and we truly believe the social connection aspect is a huge part of what we do. We love bringing people together in our community from all walks of life, making them feel valued, that they matter. Our pop-up is a place for everyone to feel welcomed without judgement, and to feel reassured that they are being looked after by their local community.
Since January 2019 we have been providing clean, quality new and second-hand clothing to vulnerable people throughout Auckland. The demand for clothing has risen significantly since we started out, as collaborations with other purpose-driven organisations has led to more opportunities to help in our community. And now, heading into cooler weather when warm clothing is needed, we expect demand to increase further.
We are raising money for a van, which would allow us to transport our whole pop-up and much more stock to our regular locations in central Auckland alongside Everybody Eats, and in Otara with Life Soup Kitchen. Having a van would also give us a much further reach to rural areas, where people in our community do not have access to services like ours. People who are living on the poverty line. People who need our service most.
Thank you so much for your generous support. Arohanui from the team at Koha Apparel.
Koha Apparel is a not-for-profit, pay-as-you-can retail experience, using repurposed apparel.
Our mission is repurposing quality clothing for those in need. Whilst also aiming to reduce the amount of clothing waste going to landfill.
We would use the money raised to buy a van best suited for our services!
If we exceed our target the extra money would be used to cover the running costs of the van for as long as possible.
