Northland

It is time to renovate all our buildings at Kokohuia Marae to support the growing numbers of whanau, hapu, iwi, community members and foreign visitors who use our marae for their gatherings.

Kokohuia Marae is made up of whanau volunteers who are committed to developing this marae to be a culturally rich environment for our leaders of tomorrow who will keep our reo and cultural practices alive for our next generation of tamariki and mokopuna.

We are currently fund raising and need all your support by donating through this page. Thank you for your support.

About us

Kokohuia Marae is situated on the West Coast north of Waipoua Forest, approximately 80km north of Dargaville. Kokohuia Marae provides cultural support for both Maori and Non Maori to remember and celebrate significant events such as tangihanga, unveilings, baptism, birthdays, weddings, meetings, school events, wananga, marae noho, te reo maori wananga, weaving wananga, rongoa maori, country and western events, hauora health seminars, trustee training and many more events. The whare hui is known to be the whare karakia for the Anglican Church services since it was built in 1958 as there has never been a church for whanau in Kokohuia.
