Short film showcasing the Maori culture through traditional methods of cooking a Hangi
Auckland
Kia Ora!
Its Gianni and Danni here. We are third year AUT film students, currently on a journey to creating our end of year project. We will be creating a short documentary film following the story of the Reid Whanau and their traditional methods of cooking a Hangi. Throughout our documentary, we want to express what a Hangi means to the Maori culture by showcasing the Reid Whanau coming together and creating close bonds over Kai.
Hangi has always been an important meal to the Maori Culture as it brings people closer together. We would also like to explore the tradition and the sentimental value that it preserves to this day. As we both come from different cultural backgrounds, we understand the importance of valuing cultural identities and maintaining these practices for the generations to come. For this reason, we would love to share this story with our beloved friends and family in New Zealand, and showcase how beautiful yet simple a traditional Hangi can be.
We would love for you guys to help our Hangi out by donating just a few dollars towards our short documentary film! Our target goal will be $600-$700 to cover all costs of Kai, transport and Koha to the Reid Whanau!
Kia ora mõ to koutou tautoko, arohanui Gianni and Danni xx
All donation expenses will go towards Ingredients for the Hangi, as well as transport costs and the Reid Whanau.
