Kowhai Equine NZ was started in 2016.

Here at Kowhai Equine we take on retired racehorses, abused, neglected or abandoned horses.

We work with these horses, rehabbing them whether it be mentally, physically or emotionally. We spend a majority of our time and money working on body condition and lameness in these horses.

Being a self funded establishment, everything these horses need comes out of our pockets. This year alone I have unfortunately had to turn away 14 horses and 2 ponies due to the fact I couldn't afford to take them on to help them. I managed to find a few of them somewhere to go, but the majority of them were put down or sent on the truck.
