I have decided to extend my time here in Bangkok serving NightLight International, I need your help so I can help victims of sex trafficking
Waikato
I saved for two years leading up to my 2016 mission trip to Bangkok. I ensured I had enough funds to complete my building project in Cambodia (June 2016), and 5-6 months living with no income in Bangkok, volunteering with NightLight International http://www.nightlightinternational.com/about/
Within two weeks of my arrival to Bangkok, I knew I was to stay longer in order to have an effective impact on the women in our care. It is important for me to be with the women from the start of their journey into our transition home until we are able to send them back to their home countries to start their lives again. Therefore this requires a longer commitment.
Bangkok is known for sex tourism and the purchasing of women for sex, it's a sex playground for westerners and locals. It has shifted something inside me, flamed a fire that was already burning for these women who are (usually) trapped in Bangkok. My goal is to serve with unconditional love, because He first loved me I am able to go forth in the streets of Bangkok and wholeheartedly love the women.
I feel absolutely grateful to be called here to work with these amazing women and be apart of their journey to freedom.
If you have read this far thank you for taking the time to read, I ask for prayer over Bangkok and this ministry, prayer for the women in the streets and for Night Light. over the last 10 months I have seen the incredible power of prayer in the transition house with the women therefore before anything prayers and encouragement are extremely appreciated and I am so THANKFUL for all the loving words of encouragement and prayers!
If you are in such a position and feel compelled to donate in support of what I do here in Bangkok THANK YOU so much. Donations will enable me to cover my living costs (Rent + bills per month: 10,000 BHT/$410NZD. Transport costs to and from the transition home and to/from outreaches per month: Approx 3,400 BHT/$175NZD. Food allowance per month: approx 4000BHT/$160NZD) total cost of living for 12 months to cover living costs is around $8,400 NZD
These costs are my baseline living costs approximates based on my last 3 months in Bangkok. Luckily Thailand is a relatively cheap place to live therefore costs are much lower than New Zealand.
Other costs such as clothes, amenities, books, phone bill, insurance, coffee, gym membership are "personal" costs these are costs which allow me to live a balanced life in Bangkok and continue to have some routine and "self-time" these costs will be funded by the last of my savings and close family members.
Recently I have felt God call me into the lives of refugees and asylum seekers here in Bangkok and have been regularly visiting IDC (immigration detention centre) twice a week to bring food, supplies, love, prayer and company if you would like to specifically contribute to the refugees you can notify this on your donation or just flick me a message.
Many Blessings and thanks,
Lily
My role with NightLight International as a full-time volunteer is "house mother". I work in our transition home where women who have been internationally trafficked INTO Thailand who through our outreach program and case managers women who express a want and need to return back to their home countries due to being illegally trafficked to Bangkok will move into our house for usually a 3-6 month period.
Here we provide the women with a safe home, food, medical care, counselling, job skills, bible study, worship and support.
Once the women have completed the program, are medically cleared to leave Thailand, and all paper work and procedures are completed with the government and immigrations we purchase their flight tickets home where we have connected the women with organisations who will care for them as needed in their home countries.
I am also part of our international outreach team, twice a week we go into brothels, bars and the streets to connect and build relationships with the women providing them with information inviting them to our free medical clinics and beauty shop, and if needed we can provide further assistance.
I also visit IDC twice a week to visit those seeking asylum and refugee status who have fled their homes, I take basic necessities and food, this is seperate to the work I do with NightLight but I feel very passionately about the refugees here in Bangkok.
Step into victory 2 April 2017
I still have to pinch myself that I am apart of such an incredible ministry; that God uniquely called not just me, but every single volunteer and employee from all over the world (14 nations represented) and is calling his daughters to us, he is pursuing them and we are seeing the fruit of this with the women and children we are assisting.
For sometime we have been working to shift our program from our current 24 hour in-patient care to independent (out-patient) care. We provide what the women need and we will now offer a day program 5 days a week (YAY). A place of rest, joy, nurturing, training, skill development, vocational training and fellowship. We moved into our new centre last week and tomorrow (3rd of April) we will open our doors to the 6 women we are currently assisting. We have been praying for this for a long time. Annie and Pon (founders of Night Light) declared that this year was a year of breakthrough in different areas, how good is our God?!
During our Night Light retreat we spent time in worship, prayer, fellowship and lot's of eating! Within the retreat we had 7 baptisms total. One of those being a women in our care, who has such a passion for the Lord. My absolute highlight of this retreat were the brave women that stood and shared their testimonies. To see one of our volunteers from a totally different part of the world be connected with one of our Thai staff because of their testimonies, displayed the power of love across two cultures; that we are indeed sisters. These testimonies are of women stepping into victory, walking in healing, being re born and never having to seek love outside of our Father.
We held our first international medical clinic last month, where our nurse and on staff doctor checked 17 women, we had live worship and fellowship through out the medical clinic.
God, all glory goes to you! The breakthroughs have come after the seasons of waiting and challenges, you deliver on your promises and have shown us such favor, Thank you!
