I am going to improve the lives of people in Laos by volunteering in a small rural village and an elephant sanctuary.

Wellington

Hi, I'm Kelly and I am planning to travel to Laos to volunteer in a small rural village with a group of fellow students through an organisation called Volunteer Eco Students Abroad (VESA) http://www.vesabroad.co.nz/projects/south-east-asia. I will be part of a team that will be building houses and a school for the local villagers, teaching English to the native children and general infrastructure improvements such as fresh drinking water and new toilets. I will also be helping at the elephant conservation centre by preparing daily meals and planting renewable food sources. By volunteering my involvement will greatly benefit and improve the day to day lives of the Lao people. Funds will go towards flights and accommodation costs, building supplies, hiring of local tradespeople, and the elephant conservation centre.
