We’ve set up this page for those that want to show their love and support to Laura & Ali as they venture into their new life.

Auckland

Hello Family, Friends & Supporters of Laura and Ali,

As you know, our wonderful friend Laura has been bravely working to recover from a mountain biking accident she had on her 29th birthday. She has been fiercely determined to learn and adapt to her new lifestyle, and has been doing this with her usual sense of humour, bubbliness, good spirits and resilience. We’re sure we are not alone in our awe of how Laura has handled the last two months and has managed to inspire us all with her positivity. You can read more about Laura’s journey in her weekly column for the Rotorua Daily Post (link at the bottom of this page).

By her side since her accident has been her incredible, encouraging and loyal Partner, Ali, as well as both Laura and Ali’s wonderful and incredibly supportive parents Lily & Glen and Sue & Colin.

Ali has been an amazing support to Laura, while also personally adjusting to their new life together, and chugging along at his PhD when time allows.

Laura gets out of the Auckland Spinal Unit on 27 April, and her & Ali then take the next steps of starting their new chapter. We know that Laura & Ali have many friends and supporters around the world, that would like to do something to help. Laura has already experienced the generosity of so many, and has a very cheerful room of flowers, cards, gifts and lots of games (board game nights at Laura and Ali’s from May!).

We’ve set up this page for those that want to show their love and support to Laura & Ali as they venture into their new life. Collectively, we are able to give them the option of doing something really awesome, ticking something off the bucket list, or financing something they need. This is for them to do whatever they want - maybe go on a holiday, get some sailing lessons….

True to Laura’s incredibly generous nature, when we spoke to her about this page, she wanted to use it to raise funds for the Bay Trust Rescue Helicopter that flew her to Middlemore Hospital. St John paramedics were also part of the team, both in the helicopter and walking in through the forest to her. The links to both of those wonderful organisations, who do such important work, are below. Please do donate to those organisations if you wish. However, we have purposely kept this page for Laura & Ali, as a way to do something for them.

If we band together, we can help Laura & Ali do something awesome!

We are friends of Laura & Ali that thought it would be awesome if we can pool together to give Laura and Ali an awesome gift to share together as they venture into their new lifestyle.
