Help Lauren raise funds to go towards any necessary medical treatments and other related costs for her battle against cancer
Hawke's Bay
Our Lauren is the most beautiful, compassionate, giving, much loved and bubbly girl. Working in the medical field, her life is dedicated to helping others in need of emergency medical help, for her its not just a job but her passion. Just after celebrating her 30th birthday she received the crushing blow of a shock cancer diagnosis. After gruelling months of treatments we all believed she had beaten it. Two years on life was starting to return to normal, her health was improving and her immune system rebuilding finally, and she returned to work and study so she could continue on with her love of helping others.
But once again life has delivered the cruelest blow of a further cancer diagnosis, a return of a tumour in the breast, with metastasis in the lung, stage 4. The plan for surgery no longer viable. Her best fighting chance is immunotherapy treatment, Pembrolizumab which is not funded here in New Zealand at a cost of around $70,000, but Laurens suitability for this treatment option is in question so we will look to overseas treatments not available here, anything to give her the hope to beat this disease.
All Lauren needs is for her family to focus on being by her side to support her and stay positive during this awful time, without the financial burden of medical costs. Please give if you can, to assist with the costs of necessary medical treatments and other costs, to get her overseas to try other therapies. Please send love and prayers for a better future for Lauren.
This page was created by Michelle (Lauren’s Mum) and Emma (Lauren’s cousin) on her behalf. Our Lauren is the best, loveliest, most caring person and we just want to do everything we possibly can to help her as we know she would do the same for anyone else.
Update 5/12/2023: funds will be put towards a bi-lateral mastectomy.
All money raised for Lauren will be used towards the necessary medical treatments that are not funded in NZ like immunotherapy Pembrolizumab and other related costs eg. travel overseas to get alternative treatments for Lauren’s battle against cancer.
Surgery Update 28/1/24 28 January 2024
Our beautiful Lauren recently underwent a double mastectomy to remove tumours. She is on the road to recovery from this major surgery.
The unfunded portion of this surgery was possible through the use of Give a Little funds, and we are so grateful and feel very fortunate to have the ability to cover these costs through donations made by so many generous people. Each and every one of you have played a part in ensuring a better future for our girl.
A high level of vigilance and monitoring will continue alongside the next line of medical treatment to stay ahead of further occurance and treat remaining secondary tumours.
We remain indebted to all who have supported and continue to support Lauren, and that love and support has been generously given in so many ways. We appreciate you all so much.
Stage 4 cancer is an unknown and ever evolving journey and one we will continue on with, never giving up hope.
Alongside ongoing medical treatments we will also focus on a more holistic approach in boosting Lauren’s immune system to its fullest.
The last 7 months have required very intensive treatments and now its the time to look ahead to more positivity that we can achieve a better future for Lauren, to embrace her new normal.
So much of this would not have been possible without our donors, our friends and supporters. We so appreciate the continued donations towards future healthcare and unfunded costs to ease the burdon
Blessings & Love to all who support Lauren on this journey xxx
