Please help SPCA Otago to save the life of Lazarus the badly injured cat.

We call this handsome cat Lazarus. He is a medium-haired ginger and white boy, approximately 1 year old. Sadly, he's in a very bad way but we're hoping he'll follow his namesake and rise up again.

Poor Lazarus was hit by a car earlier this week on South Road, Caversham, Dunedin. He miraculously survived the horrendous blow and ran off into the sanctuary of a nearby church, where his kind saviours found him and rushed him to hospital. Tragically he'd suffered a broken jaw, a fractured tibia and damage to his pelvis. He has been kept comfortable on pain relief while we have searched for owners. As yet we haven't been able to find any, but we desperately want to save his life as he is a really lovely cat.

Unfortunately the surgery required will be quite significant. It could cost up to $2000 worth of treatment. In the absence of an owner, the SPCA is struggling to find the funding for this on our own.

Could you help us save this poor boy's life? Donations from our wonderful supporters will relieve the grim outlook and allow vets to go ahead with surgery to fix his broken wee body. Your kind donation will be life-saving.

SPCA Otago has taken responsibility for Lazarus in the absence of an owner. Under such circumstances a poor cat like this would often have to be put to sleep, however this guy is a real fighter and has stolen hearts. We believe we can rely on our supporters to help him pull through, so we are calling out for help on his behalf.
