Helping my terminally sick Father get to his homeland to say goodbye to friends and family he hasn’t seen in over 40+ years
Nationwide
Growing up in England the eldest of 9 my Dad immigrated to NZ, after a tragic event not long after he left my Dad lost his daughter in a terrible accident and after going to the funeral in the UK he never went back and disconnected from his roots as a way to deal with the significant grief, guilt and pain associated with his decisions to leave……this created a hole within himself that he tried to fill with distractions but instead denial took root. Life has flown by and before he knew it 40+ years have passed but with age comes perspective and the need for closure, unfortunately it was his terminal cancer diagnosis that has motivated this long overdue trip and it will be his last chance to say goodbye, meet and put to rest the painful memories of the past and bring healing if not to his cancer but to his heart and mind.
Contributing to this restoration of family is what being human is all about, helping build bridges, restore relationships and pave the way for the next generation to travel on.
My Dad isn’t perfect he has made some life changing mistakes that he had had to live with the consequences but if I can be a part of him closing this chapter in his life with a positive and healing memories making his legacy a story filled with humility, courage and strength I will do everything in my power to support him. Because I truly believe everyone deserves the opportunity to make things right and allow the way for forgiveness and healing so that he may Rest In Peace when his time comes.
Thanks everyone
He’s my Father
