We're buying a van and wheelchair for our friend Gunny who suffered a devastating stroke.
Wellington
As some of you will know our dear friend Gunny suffered a devastating stroke in September last year. Still in his 60's, Gunny has overcome many health obstacles in his life but this stroke has left him in a care facility and he is literally stuck! Gunny is unable to walk or use his left arm and is pretty much confined to bed. Previously an active man who loved softball, rugby, golf, tramping and cycling his current situation is tough. We want to help get Gunny moving and the plan is to buy him a converted van and an electric wheelchair so his friends can pick him up, take him for a spin or to a rugby game, out to lunch, or visit friends and family. All the things he loves. Gunny is so excited about this project which will enable him to get back into the community he loves so much. We have 3 weeks to raise $50,000 for Gunny's van and wheelchair. The perfect van has been found in Auckland and as these are hard to come by we need to move quickly. Please get support this project and help us get Gunny moving again.
Gunny has been a close friend of mine for the last 22 years.
These funds will be used to bring more comfort and joy to Gunny's life. We plan to buy the vehicle described and a suitable wheelchair. If we don't reach our target the money will be spent on other forms of transport to get Gunny out and about.
