Help us get Jaden (JAYDOG) to see his beloved Melbourne Storm before he is next medical adventure - dialysis.
Birkenhead, Auckland
As many of you already know Jaden is a tragic, tragic Storm supporter. He was born with a rare disorder being the deletion of Chromosome 20, and a condition called Albright Hereditary Osteodystrophy.
His medical issues have been endless. Born only 2lbs, spent 4 months in hospital and feed via a tube for a year. He was not supposed to walk, crawl or talk and did not crawl but days before his 2nd birthday, he just got up and walked. And he hasn’t stopped talking.
Jaden’s mobility has weakened year-by-year. He had triple fusions in both ankles when he was 13yrs. His feet are 24/7 sore. In summer they swell and in winter they get numb from the cold. He can only walk a short distance before he needs to sit down but refuses to have a walker or wheelchair.
Jaden has been bedridden for months on many occasions, he has been bullied for his weight, never been able to hop in a car and drive somewhere, missed out on having a loved one and his own family. Despite this, he does not feel sorry for himself and just gets on with life. He knows he’s different, but he refuses to be treated differently.
Jaden’s kidneys are failing now. Jaden is not eligible for a transplant for various reasons, unless a miracle happens. His kidney function is at 20% compared to a normal function of 120%. Soon he he will be doing dialysis 3/4 days a week for 4/5 hours. Life will change for him immensely.
Before this happens and before travel will not be possible, we want to GET JAYDOG TO THE STORM.
As a close friend of his mother Julie, I have known Jaden since he was born and am proud to a be part of his life and even prouder of the young man Jaden is.
Flights, accommodation, a helper for Jaden and his mum, transport, food, game day tickets and possibly a little touring around Melbourne
If we don't reach our target or over reach it - the monies will be spent on Jaden's future needs.
