In order to remain as independent and as active as he can it is imperative that Pete gets an external hoist
Bay of Plenty
This amazing man, Pete, sadly became a T4 T5 Paraplegic at 17 years old when he was involved in a severe car accident as a backseat passenger - the driver had been drinking/lost control and Pete got thrown from the vehicle - he woke up in hospital only to be told he would never walk again.
Pete has made an amazing life for himself, his wife and his daughter - and is more often than not found at his local go-kart track in Te Puke helping anyone who needs it because he is a selfless beautiful man who would help anyone.
Unfortunately pushing the wheels of his wheel chair around for 37 years has had a huge toll on his shoulders and now he has to use his electric wheelchair - the only problem with this is it won’t fit into his car. ACC have approved Pete a new vehicle with an internal hoist which ordinarily would be amazing HOWEVER due to the fact that Pete was thrown from the backseat of the car he suffers from chronic PTSD because of this and can’t sit in the back of the car - the internal hoist takes up so much room - Pete can get into the position of driver but CANT get his wheelchair into the passenger seat. There is a $29,000 difference in fitting an external hoist instead of the internal hoist
Let’s help Pete keep his independence in raising the extra funds to get the external hoist
