After 2 years of hardship and heartache, it’s time for some joy!!
Canterbury
The last couple of years have been a huge challenge for this precious family.
In March 2017 Rachael (my twin sister) was diagnosed with an aggressive breast cancer. After surgery, chemo and radiation, life was about to get back to normal with the all clear, and Rachael’s hair growing back. Then, during a week away for Marcus and Rach to celebrate the end of the treatment journey, the first signs of something else sinister emerged, and shortly after their youngest daughter Autumn (3yrs old), was also diagnosed with cancer, this time a brain tumour.
This dear wee girl, her 3 big sisters, and her parents have now gone through back to back cancer treatments, with the last 8 months being the toughest of all. Autumn has gone through a 7-hour brain surgery, 17 general anaesthetics, 164 nights in hospital, countless spews, and hasn’t eaten by mouth for 7 months. (Her cancer bead collection is over 400 beads so far..). She is currently in the middle of her 6th (and final!!) round of chemo. Unbelievably another blow came in November last year when Marcus’ mum unexpectedly passed away (we miss you Granny Linda xx).
Those who know Rachael and Marcus and their 4 little girls (Josie, Mischa, Greta and Autumn) will agree that they are such positive, unselfish, and generous people, and will feel somewhat uncomfortable with this givealittle campaign. They would want me to take the opportunity to pass on their heartfelt thanks to all of you who have supported them through this journey already; the meals, the gifts, the childcare, the prayers. Thank you to school, neighbourhood, church, work places, friends and family near and far … who have all pulled together to support them. Thank you all of you.
The purpose of this givealittle page is to give those who feel they want to, the opportunity to come together once more and give the Jamieson’s a family trip away they will never forget. A true holiday filled with positive memories, and a deep sense of reconnection and well being.
After so many missed sports games, family outings, meals round the table, disrupted birthday celebrations, and life in the balance, what a gift it would be to bless this family with a trip full of wonderful memories! (Personally, I would LOVE to see them get to Disneyland!! The kids are the perfect age to enjoy the fantasy and charm, and Autumn is a big Elsa and Rapunzel fan).
We are keen to support this ourselves and know others would be too. It’d be a joy for us all, as well as the Jamiesons, seeing this happen!
I am Rachael’s twin sister, auntie to her 4 beautiful girls.
If we are able to raise enough money, it would be pretty special to send these guys to Disneyland. If we raise more than enough, the extra money would be gifted to them to choose to do with it what they want.
