Help remove the financial worries while Clayton is in hospital with a brain tumor.
Picton, Marlborough
We have started this Give-a-little Page to help Marianne Govaerts and Clayton Thomson who are currently in Wellington while Clayton is having Chemotherapy plus Radiation for a brain tumor which was first diagnosed in November 2021. Clayton has undergone surgery at Wellington hospital to have the tumor removed. Unfortunately, the surgeons could not remove all of it and it is an aggressive tumor.
This is not the first time Marianne and Clayton have had to experience such a tragedy. Their youngest son Leon had a brain tumor when he was 11 years old (not the same) but is now in remission. Life can be so unfair sometimes and there is no reason why two lovely people should endure so much pain.
There are other treatments which may be available for Clayton to help him through this terrible situation, but these are not funded by our Health Sector/Government.
Marianne in the past has always been an integral part of the community. She is the manager of the St Vincent de Paul secondhand shop where she volunteers her time and experience helping people in the community. Marianne also works along side other services helping the elderly, young families, mothers, and those in need. This is her passion and why she enjoys living in Picton.
The next 6 -12 months are going to be very difficult for both Marianne and Clayton while Clayton continues with his treatments. Clayton will not be able to work in his earth moving business which he is so passionate about.
As a community now is the time for us to help them. A massive way of saying thank you for everything Marianne and Clayton have contributed to our little town of Picton.
Any funds raised will take the pressure of living away from home and will help to keep their home safe for their return. It also means Marianne can stay home to look after Clayton while he is having treatments and drive him to his appointments when they do eventually return to Marlborough. They can focus on each other rather than worrying about paying the monthly accounts all families have. Plus, if the option is available for Clayton to take non funded medication, then these funds will be readily available for them.
Life is so short sometimes and so cruel. Please help us to help Marianne and Clayton.
God Bless.
Amy Cragg and Anne Goodyer

Possible alternative medical treatments eg Keytruda, Avastine and Lumostine. These are not currently Government funded, The monies raised will also help with everyday costs of not being able to work and living away from home during treatments.
