Please help our Speed Skating coach Gary Clark to fund private treatment, to fight cancer with chemotherapy then surgery to remove a tumour
Whanganui, Manawatu-Wanganui
Our coach Gary Clark has recently been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Not the easiest of cancers to overcome BUT there is a window of opportunity as the cancer has not yet spread. Gary will be starting chemotherapy in the next few days to shrink the tumor - this will be followed by a long major surgery to remove the tumor. It will be a long road to recovery from this surgery which will see Gary away from work for some time.
The Whanganui speed skating club has benefited from countless volunteer hours of coaching and guidance over 45 years, with many of those skaters going on to compete overseas at the highest level at world championships. Gary has served as the NZ official announcer for many of our speed skating national events, as well as Wanganui Roller Sports Inc. club president. He has also served as chairman of the Speed Sports Committee for NZ and spent almost a decade on the skateNZ board. Gary has a wealth of knowledge and has an unwavering passion for our sport!
Our club decided to start this page to help Gary in his time of need - to lessen the financial burden and stress in the upcoming months, help with treatment costs and just show our support and gratitude for someone that has given so much to our national speed skating community.
I understand that times are tough, thoughts, prayers and good vibes are very welcome too :)
We'd love it if you could join us in supporting Gary in any way you can xx
Gary has coached myself and my daughter for the past 7-8 years
Expenses treatment costs (nab-paclitaxel & Gemcitabine) and related expenses. Income loss from a long recovery from major surgery.
