Lets help Robin on his cancer journey
Bay of Plenty
As people know the health service in NZ is under extreme pressure with long wait times to see specialist’s. Robin first noticed symptoms in early Jan 2024 when he visited his GP with constant nose bleeds. He was referred to an ENT specialists but was told he would have to wait over 6 months for the appointment. Fast forward 7 months and after Robin’s health started to very rapidly deteriorate he finally got some answers. Rob was diagnosed with Stage 3 Burkitt Lymphoma (BL), a rare but aggressive Non-Hodgkin B-cell lymphoma cancer. BL is one of the most aggressive forms of cancer there is, doubling in size every 48 hrs. Rob needs to undergo 6 rounds of intensive chemotherapy over the next 6 months. Treatment will be held at Waikato Hospital, 120km from their home in Tauranga. To add to the families stress a week prior to his diagnosis he was also made redundant from his job. Robin, Yvonne and their two young children moved to NZ from South Africa 5 years ago and have no family here for support. Yvonne is doing what she can to support the family off one income, retain her job all whilst trying to balance kids, school runs, day to day household upkeep and taking time off to travel between home and Hamilton and when Rob is unwell after each treatment. We are reaching out for any help to try ease the family’s pressure during this difficult time with the ongoing day to day living expenses, as well as the petrol costs to travel back and forth for treatment.
A good friend
Petrol expenses to travel for treatment, general living expenses, unforeseen medical bills, to help supplement families accommodation expenses in Hamilton during treatment

Just to let everyone know, Rob is at home and doing ok for now :-) His PICC line was removed as a precaution, as they were worried about what could be causing the fever/infection.
Keeping him in our thoughts as he prepares and gets his strength back for his next round of Chemo
