Ryan is an amazing young man who has had many medical and financial struggles in his life. I want to support him to study at university.

Nationwide

Ryan arrived at Whangarei Boys' High School in 2011 when his father came to work in Whangarei. Ryan had a cleft palate which made speaking and communicating difficult for him. He lived in a small apartment with a large number of people but, despite this, his homework was always completed to a very high standard and always handed in on time.

When it was time for class speeches I told Ryan that he was welcome to perform his to me and a few students but he insisted on being treated the same as everyone else. As he delivered his speech there was absolute silence, followed by a huge round of applause. Everyone respected the fact that, despite his speech impediment, he was prepared to do what was required. No-one tried to get out of speeches that year. Ryan gave a speech every year.

Ryan always went above and beyond for everyone. He was, and is, kind and considerate. He is a clever young man who is prepared to work hard in order to succeed.

Ryan has kept in touch with me over the last few years. Life has been a real struggle financially. Ryan and his family had to return to the Philippines. He got in touch with me to act as a referee as he said he needed to get a job and earn enough money to pay for his university studies. I would like to give him a break and take some of the stress away from him so that he can focus on his studies. He has done one year of an architecture degree and I would love for him to complete it.

This is a deserving young man who has had a constant struggle in his young life. If you would like to help a little, I know he will be absolutely over the moon and certainly very appreciative. I know he is going through a huge struggle at the moment.

Brenda Rudolph's involvement (page creator)

I was Ryan's teacher. He has had many medical and financial difficulties. He was one of my most inspiring students who persevered in difficult circumstances. He is struggling to pay for his university education and I would like to help him out.

Use of funds

Ryan needs help to pay for his university tuition. He has no-one else to support him. The money will pay for his fees and books. Any surplus money can be used to help him with rent and food.

Thank you letter from Ryan  29 July 2018

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who helped and shared their blessings to me.

It means a lot. It moved me closer to my dream of becoming an architect, and although the course I have chosen isn’t as easy, knowing there are people supporting me cheers me up. No words could express how thankful I am to feel the Kiwi spirit, so thank you! You guys serve as one of my inspirations to strive for a brighter future. It serves as a path for me to help those in need once I have completed my degree.

Again, thank you! It’s warms my heart to know that regardless of my ethnicity, kiwis are very generous and warm-hearted to help those in need. So again, my sincerest gratitude.

Special thanks to Ms. Rudolph who has been a samaritan to me since the day I arrived at Whangarei Boys’ High School as a year 10 student. A wonderful lady with a beautiful heart.

I hope someday I could return all the generosity and kindness you guys have given me. Again, thank you!

Sincerely,

Ryan
