Helping to get the cats of the Kaitawa Reserve colony, healthy, desexed and into forever homes!
Paraparaumu, Wellington
In Paraparaumu living in Kaitawa Reserve and feeding from houses on Riwai Street there is a colony of cats who really really need our help!!
There is a lot of illness in the colony. So far we have had cats test positive for giardia, panleukopenia virus, coccidia and FIV. We are so thankful to the SPCA who have taken on most of the sick cats! We need to get the rest of them out of there and treated asap if they are sick, all need to be desexed.
Obviously we want to help the cats living in the colony but it is also really important to us to get the cats out of Kaitawa Reserve to protect our native birds who also live there.
So far we have removed 4 kittens and 11 adults from the colony. 3 of these have already been adopted by a man whose deck the liked to visit!
Our aim is to get all the cats trapped, healthy, desexed and into their forever homes. To do this we need some help financially. If you can donate that is amazing!
Other things we need that you may have at home:
- cat carriers
- dog crates
- cat litter trays
- tinned fish (for baiting traps)
- cat food
- old towels/fluffy blankets
- cleaning wipes
- flea treatments
I care about the cats lol
- desexing cats
- supplies for trapping
- supplies for holding the cats before desex and rehoming
- flea and worm treatments
