LET'S TRUMP AMANDA'S CANCER
Hawera, Taranaki
AMANDA'S STORY: This is hard to write. i never thought I'd be in this situation. In 2018, at age 42, I was diagnosed with metastatic (spreading) breast cancer. A mastectomy followed, along with radiation & chemo therapies. After that, came the "terminal" conversation - the one we all dread. I've been on a variety of medications that work for a while, & then they don't. The next step is another round of chemotherapy. This time, my best shot at buying me some time with my family is an unfunded medication, Nab Paclitaxel. It costs $3,000.00 per round, & I need 12 x 3 weekly rounds. I've been a single parent for 7 years, & I'm the proud Mum of 2 sons (20 & 14), and a daughter (15). I'm now 46, and am not ready to give up on life, & being there for my daughter's wedding, & seeing my sons grow into men. I am upbeat & positive about life, and I need some help to fund this treatment so that I can increase my odds of living a bit longer from <20% to 42% - doubling the odds sounds great to me (as a Mum & keen Bridge player)!
Unfunded chemotherapy treatment (Nab Paclitaxel) at Palmerston North Hospital, for 12 rounds every 3 weeks. The funded treatment offers Amanda a less than 20% chance of living longer, while the unfunded has a 42% success rate.
Change of Payee 1 December 2022
Funds will be paid to Amanda's mother, Lynette Dombroski.
