Help The Hyphen Project build a media space that meets the needs and matches the talents of our amazing teens!

Let our teens make noise!

We work with neurodivergent teens who have been underserved in mainstream education.

We’re building a dedicated media suite which supports creative momentum. But we’re missing one essential piece: high-quality studio monitors. These speakers are a core tool in any media space. We're not aiming for the most expensive setup – just something good enough to inspire our teens and help them hear their progress. The cost is around $1,700.

Here's why:

When a teen joins The Hyphen Project, they’re stepping into possibility. They arrive feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of where they belong – not because they lack ability, but because they haven’t yet had the right environment for it to shine.

We see what happens when they do. Last year, we borrowed music equipment for a week so our teens could explore and create freely – and they produced an incredible collaborative piece of music. On another occasion, we hired a recording studio for a day so a teen who had written an original comedy song could bring it to life. These moments aren’t rare for us – they’re what happens when we give our young people the right tools and space.

And it doesn't stop at music. We're seeing them explore filmmaking, game development, and podcasting.

With your help, we can give more exceptional teens the chance to explore creativity, build confidence, and produce work that demonstrates to the world what they're really capable of. Your support will bring our teens' talents to life.

About us

The Hyphen Project is an educational organisation for exceptional teens. It offers a 6-month programme providing an uplifting, understanding environment where neurodivergent rangatahi can step into their strengths and transition into adulthood.

Use of funds

The money will be used to purchase high-quality studio monitors for our media suite, giving teens the essential equipment they need to create, hear, and develop their music in a professional and inspiring environment.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
