The Grammar Distance Squad are running 21,000kms to help get to the States and to raise money for Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand.
Auckland
33 members of the Auckland Grammar School Distance Squad are embarking on a tour of California in April 2016, where they will be billeted at schools while taking part in a number of running events. This will be an amazing experience for the boys and based on past trips, a life-changing one as well.
The distance from Auckland to San Francisco is 21,000kms return. The team’s aim is to each run 30kms every week to reach that total and to help raise money for their trip. At the same time, they will be supporting Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand, who will receive 50% of all money raised.
Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand supports patients and their families living with leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma, and related blood conditions. www.leukaemia.org.nz
A key motivator for these boys is to help other young people who are less fortunate than themselves. It is appropriate that the Distance Squad supports this cause, as leukaemia is the most common childhood cancer and lymphoma is the most common cancer in 15-24-year-olds.
Let youth do it for youth.
