    UPDATE TIME!!

Well the good news is that the tablets for his prostate are helping and it has reduced in size a little bit.

His poop is firming up but he will have a solid poop then 2 runny ones in quick succession.

The specialists have now put him on other tablets that will help with his gut we hope and stop the runs. That will be for two weeks and he will then be back again to decide if he needs an intestinal biopsy or not. He is also on tablets for life to help with the pain in his spine.

The donation of the ZD food has been a HUGE help so thanks to everyone who donated. Luckily for us he loves the biscuits now too :)

Corey had suspected kennel cough recently too so a trip to the emergency vet was called for and he was put on antibiotics--poor boy never seems to get a break.

The good news is that Corey has put on 2kg which is fantastic!! We have struggled with the special diet to get the weight on but we are now seeing progress.

He continues to be a demanding boy though wanting lots of cuddles 24/7 and being an old boy loves his sleep. That doesn't stop him just LOVING his car rides and runs at the park. Well done Corey we are getting there!

    COREY UPDATE

So our sweet boy Corey had his first specialist appointment at VSG yesterday and spent the day in there having tests. They shaved his belly and up the side so they could look at all the necessary organs via ultrasound.

The results are not conclusive yet as we are awaiting further results but here’s what we know.

Corey has an enlarged prostate, which is common in older entire dogs, but his is on the grossly enlarged, high end of the scale i.e. 5-6 times larger than it should be hinting towards “Benign prostatic hyperplasia” and his urine both peed out and direct from the bladder has high protein readings. His gut was full of gas and food particles even after over 12 hours fasting so they couldn’t see if there were tumours and there is a high chance he has IBS. There is also a possibility that he could have whipworm so we are treating him for that too—he hates the medicine though poor boy!

So at this stage he will go on a diet and we will wait to get the urine test results back. Continue with the whipworm treatment and reassess in two weeks. More than likely we will need to have more bloods and another ultrasound done. Desexing him will help bring the prostate down in size and hopefully stop his man parts dribbling!

The good news though is that heart, lungs, spleen and liver all look good. Corey was an absolute angel through it all and he stole the hearts of everyone there. He loves to go up and lick your hand to say “Pat Me Please” and if you stop he’ll lick you again.

So proud of you our brave boy!

    Hi everyone, Corey here.

Auntie says you have all been so generous in donating so I can get well again. Thank you!!

I'm on some pretty strong pain killers every 6 hours so even though I'm a bit dopey I feel a bit better and even smiled again!

Auntie says I'm fussy cos I won't eat the special food they gave me (its yucky mushy stuff) but I like the dog roll that was donated. Auntie says typical!! Whatever that means.

Anyway I slept through the night and even went for a very short walk this morning and loved peeing on everything in sight.

Even my poop was a bit firmer--goodness only know why Auntie picks it up and examines it!! I mean come on it's shit and I dump it out for a reason! ;)

Anyway a big thanks from me Corey, Auntie and the team. Apparently thanks to you all I'm off to see the top specialist next week--hope he has smackos I love those!!

    Bye for now

    Love Corey xxx
