Auckland
Meet Corey. Corey is 9 years old and has spent his life on a chain, starved, beaten and neglected.
While he's safe now in the hands of Rottweiler Rescue our boy is not well. Severe arthritis of the spine and potential hip issues as well as gastrointestinal problems our boy needs some serious specialist vet treatment.
This comes at a cost though and being a charity we don't have a pool of spare money to draw from. This is where we need YOUR help to let Corey have, for however long that may be, the life he deserves. Love, cuddles, a warm dry comfy bed and 2 square meals a day. Oh and treats! He just loves pigs ears and smackos.
When Corey first came to us he had this vacant stare like he had given up on life. He wouldn't come inside and was scared to come when called as I suppose he got a bash before when he did. Now however he comes inside for cuddles and snuggles up on his comfy bed while we watch TV. Oh and the look he gives you now is just that of pure love. It's been an amazing emotional transformation--now we just need to help him physically.
Please if you can spare some funds--no matter how big or small it would be most appreciated.
For over 6yrs we have been involved in the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of over 200 Rottweilers into loving, experienced, forever homes. We support our adopters and the dogs for life.
Every little helps. Charity: CC53465
All money raised will be used for Corey's medical treatment and ongoing medical care. Any surplus will go to help the many other Rottweilers that need our help.
Progress Report #3 23 April 2018
UPDATE TIME!!
Well the good news is that the tablets for his prostate are helping and it has reduced in size a little bit.
His poop is firming up but he will have a solid poop then 2 runny ones in quick succession.
The specialists have now put him on other tablets that will help with his gut we hope and stop the runs. That will be for two weeks and he will then be back again to decide if he needs an intestinal biopsy or not. He is also on tablets for life to help with the pain in his spine.
The donation of the ZD food has been a HUGE help so thanks to everyone who donated. Luckily for us he loves the biscuits now too :)
Corey had suspected kennel cough recently too so a trip to the emergency vet was called for and he was put on antibiotics--poor boy never seems to get a break.
The good news is that Corey has put on 2kg which is fantastic!! We have struggled with the special diet to get the weight on but we are now seeing progress.
He continues to be a demanding boy though wanting lots of cuddles 24/7 and being an old boy loves his sleep. That doesn't stop him just LOVING his car rides and runs at the park. Well done Corey we are getting there!
