Lend your support to Pich, a young man from Cambodia, studying in New Zealand to change the life of him and his family.
Canterbury
Over 15 years, while working in Cambodia as a rural and remote education specialist with some of the country’s poorest communities, I met many children whose lives could change forever, if only they had an opportunity.
One such child was Sarapich (Pich), a bright, kind boy who lived with his family in a fragile, traditional home in a rural area. As I got to know Pich, I could see his determination to make a better life for him and his family, and I could see his potential.
After returning to Christchurch, I invited Pich to New Zealand to study for a year at secondary school. Despite the huge difference in culture, lifestyle, language, climate, and education, Pich thrived. At the final school assembly, the principal spoke highly of Pich’s character and his contribution to the school community. He was a model student.
Pich returned to Cambodia where he continued to study, but his heart is set on returning to New Zealand to further his education at Ara. For Pich and his family, a degree in business and management will be life-changing. It will enable Pich to support his family and bring them future security.
However, one year of study fees for Pich in New Zealand will cost $26,000. To fund this his family will need to take out loans and sell precious land. Pich’s visa will allow him to work for 20 hours a week to help fund years 2 and 3 of his study.
We are seeking contributions towards the cost of Pich’s academic fees. Read Pich’s story and follow his journey via the link below.

Thank you for the donation Mike - much appreciated. Sarapich has got his INZ student visa and is due to arrive here on 20th December, just in time for Christmas. He's really looking forward to it.
