Supporting Ryan's recovery + helping him access life changing treatment
Titirangi, Auckland
If there’s one guy.. it’s Ryan.
Anyone who knows him knows that he is the kind of person who always puts others before himself. The guy that’s always there for you.. although sometimes a touch late 😂. Usually with his van to help move, fix, design something- to just give advice or be a shoulder to lean on. Ryan has always gone above + beyond for others, and now it's time we do the same for him.
A few months ago, Ryan was in a serious accident that changed everything. He suffered a severe spinal cord injury and is currently in rehab with no movement from the chest down- he does have a small muscle flicker in his left leg though, which gives us hope. The road ahead is long, far, and unknown but what we do know, is that Ryan’s spirit is stronger than anything that’s happened to him.
Standard treatment in NZ will likely leave Ryan, without use of his legs. But there is hope. Advances in regenerative medicine and stem cell therapy around the world are giving new possibilities. We are actively researching every option to give him the best chance at recovery.
There are treatment opportunities outside of NZ, and we want to be ready to move quickly when the right pathway presents itself. Every contribution will go directly toward this- advanced medical care, travel, rehabilitation, and the support he’ll need when he returns home to us just before Christmas.
Ryan has given so much to others. Now it’s our turn to give back, to help him rebuild, and to move forward in the Life of Ryan.
I am Ryan's younger sister
The money raised will go towards overseas treatment in Germany and the costs associated with this (flights, accommodation, living costs, rehab treatment), as well as mobility aids, transport, physiotherapy to support adjusting to his new life. If another stem cell treatment in a different country is a better option for Ryan’s particular injury, funds will be used for the costs above in that country and we will post a page update if this changes.
