Life was great until Sept 13 2018

Life was good for BJW. I was living in a fantastic apartment and building up a great new business after a challenging 10 years.

September 13th changed everything with my encounter with a wheelie bin. Always having being a bit clumsy I tripped over a wheelie bin that slammed my head first into a post with such force that it threw me back into another post resulting in being unconscious on the side of the road. It turned out I had to be resuscitated twice with no vital signs. The first thing I do remember is waking up the next day in Auckland ICU.

To cut a long story short BJW was now a tetraplegic. What this means is I have no feeling from my chest down, my arms have limited use and my fingers cannot operate.

Thanks to Auckland Spinal Unit I have learnt to deal with my radical change of life and I am home now. The problem is my finances are crippled. I am trying so hard to re-invent my business with the help of special apps and support from prior clients. This takes a long time but survival costs raise their ugly head every day and every week. I am in a perfect living environment that helps me rehabilitate, but because of rent arrears, I run the risk of being evicted. This can't happen, as the only other option is for ACC to put me into a home which will destroy my personality, my hope and my future.

Unfortunately my financial woes are causing me immense anxiety and are affecting my rehabilitation and my ability to concentrate on day to day living, and my ability to see friends and family.

I'm a proud man, but I really do need help. I just want to be able to live the best I can, considering my circumstances, and focus on getting better and out of my financial rut. This takes time and hopefully this is where you can help!
