Lifesaving Word Championships Adelaide 2018

Hi, my name is Joe Wilson, I am 18 years old and from Auckland. I have been part of Surf Lifesaving since the age of 5 and have recently, within the past four years made the move to Mairangi Bay Surf Life Saving Club. Since my move to Mairangi I have made great improvements in the sport, vastly bettering myself each season.

Growing up Surf Life Saving has been one of my main focuses in life, from competing in surf sports to lifeguarding all over the Northern Region. I have currently been spending my summers patrolling at some of Auckland's most dangerous beaches and competing continuously all over New Zealand.

This 2018 season in November I have been given the opportunity to represent Mairangi Bay at the Lifesaving World Championships to compete in the World Interclub Competition in Adelaide, Australia. It has always been a goal of mine to compete on an international level, and I am finally able to achieve this goal. Leading up to this event I have been training intensely in the pool and on the beach throughout the winter, focusing on my main aspects of board and ironman, while finishing off my last year of highschool.
