Light in the dark 💡 a new scooter for Val

$4,000 of $4,000 goal
Given by 43 generous donors in around 3 months

Val needs some wheels ❤️ help us give mum a little bit of light in the dark

Nationwide

As some of you will already be aware, our beautiful mum got a pretty crappy diagnosis a year ago. Cerebellum ataxia syndrome is attacking her nerve endings and slowly but surely taking away her ability to walk, talk, eat and drink. For those of you who know my (fiercely independent!) mum you’ll know that this is a pretty bleak outlook after spending the last 20+ years working pretty much non-stop with the most at risk kids in nz as a front line social worker. And being a kickass Tinka to all 11 of her grandchildren. But as always she is staying strong and carrying on as best she can! One of the things keeping her upbeat is her wee mate gryff, who needs a walk every day! And that’s where we all come in. Her donated motor scooter has given up and she’s stuck at home without it. We would be so grateful if anyone who can, would help Renee, Ade and I get enough funds together to get her a flash one with all the bells and whistles!

There’s no funding available for these as they aren’t considered “necessary” but we think someone like mum keeping her independence a little longer IS a necessity!

so she can keep getting out and about for as long as possible! and keep her spirits and independence up a little longer ❤️

Every little bit helps, and we will be looking into other fundraising options as well, so keep an eye out and get in touch if you’d like to be kept updated.

I am her youngest daughter, lucky to be able to also be her carer ❤️

Use of funds

The money we raise will be put towards a motor scooter for mum. If our goal isn’t met we will look into other options until we get there!

Look at her go!   10 June 2023

Thank you guys, honestly we are so grateful, humbled and blessed to know all you beautiful humans. Ive tried to tell her how special she is, and seeing all the donations from people around NZ and Aussie, from her past and present was so awesome, and proved my point a little 🥰 Mum is beyond stoked with her shiny new scooter, all the bells and whistles and even a wee flag on the back ⛳️

Y’all have definitely made her world a bit brighter.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
