Lincoln's rare childhood cancer

On the 27th Dec 2021 Lincoln’s world was flipped upside when he was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma. Ewings Sarcoma is a rare childhood cancer that typically appears in young teenagers. Lincoln went from going to school, spending time with mates, swimming, playing basketball and water polo, riding his bike to weekly rotations on chemotherapy. He has not been able to start his first year of high school or spend time with his friends doing what teenage boys do.

Instead he spends anywhere up to a week at a time in hospital receiving chemo and having test after test, scan after scan, even when he is not having treatment he is in outpatients every second day or so to have bloods and obs. After 6 rounds of chemo Lincoln then had major surgery to remove 3.5 ribs and a small portion of lung – his recovery from this was up and down for a few days in and out of ICU and children’s high care – but he did all with a smile and his wicked sense of humour.

Lincoln now has a number of chemo rounds to go and once that is done he will be on to radiation – he has tackled every part of this horrible disease with courage, strength and bravery. He sense of humour, infectious laugh and smile have been keeping his family and nurses well entertained.

Thanks Mane Hair for supporting us by cutting off most of my hair on 18th June to help raise funds for Lincoln and his family. Over 35cm will be cut and sent to Freedom Wigs who will then use it to create full cap prosthetic hairpieces for women and men.
