Sponsor me to help give kiwi kids the opportunity to learn to swim.
Porirua, Wellington
31% of kiwi kids can't float or swim putting them at high risk of drowning.
For my school's sustainability project, I want to raise money to help tamariki in Porirua who can't swim or afford swimming lessons to learn how to swim. This supports sustainability by improving people's fitness (and willingness to try sustainable transport) and increasing people's appreciation for our oceans and waterways (to encourage improving our water quality).
Please sponsor me either per length I swim over October, or as a lump sum donation.
I swim 3 - 4 times per week for around 100-120 lengths each time. Once the month is over, my coach will sign off the total lengths swum to work out your total donation. I expect to swim approximately 2,000 lengths in total over the whole month.
To sponsor me per length, please fill in the following google form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScbobeyqvdyEPz2MFOki-d8hbgwTFRrCqNAWZBQqyepygxwOg/viewform?usp=sf_link
Sponsorship will go toward purchasing Dash swimming lesson vouchers and any swimming equipment needed (togs and goggles). These will be gifted to the children most in need based on nominations from local Porirua schools.
Dash taught me to swim and teaches many others while I train with Porirua City Aquatics. I also do surf lifesaving as a nipper for Paekākāriki, so I understand the risk of not being able to swim.
Funds raised will go toward purchasing Dash swimming lesson vouchers and other swimming equipment to gift to Porirua kids
Nine Swim Passes Purchased! 9 December 2024
Thanks to everyone who supported Lincoln’s swimathon in October, he swam 26km and raised almost $900!
Nine tamariki from Cannons Creek Primary School who don’t know how to swim will get free Dash Swim School lessons at Cannons Creek pool for a whole term. 🏊♂️
He gave the passes to principal Katherine Day last week.
Thanks so much for helping Lincoln make a difference!
