  • Bobby has a new fly cover thanks to you x

We still need help with this little boy, but as our give a little page comes to an end, I wanted to thank you for helping us. We bought him a fly cover as the Waikato flys are notoriously bad and in preparation for winter, he has a winter cover. Sharon still has considerable vet bills, for this precious pet, and we face the hard decision now whether he has surgery or not. Either way, because of your help he has been loved, protected and bought up to great health which we have been thrilled to do. Thanks and from Sharon, Bobby and I have a safe and festive Christmas time with your families and all the best for 2021. X

  • New covers for Bobby

      3 December 2020

Your kind donations have covered off half of his vet bills and we are thankful for this. Today , I bought him a summer neck and body cover as the flys are ferocious in the Waikato and he needs protection from these. I also bought him a winter cover. Sharon and I cannot pay for the 3k surgery, and decisions are still being made. If we can make his life better with good covers, food and love, we know we are doing the best by him. Thanks for your help, we couldn’t have done this without you. Caroline, Sharon and Bobby. X

  • Bobby keeps making progress.

There is no doubt that Bobby is loved by many. My friend Sharon, where Bobby lives now continues to love and care for him. The farrier is confident that with his four weekly trimming, his laminitis can be cured, and we have you to thank for this. We have raised over one thousand dollars which has made the “life” difference for Bobby, and you have directly saved this darling little boys life so thank you.

Sharon and I have to make some decisions in the next month as too whether we go for 3 lots of radiation for his penile cancer which will make him very unwell for 6-9 weeks, or we continue with the surgery option. Sharons husband is building Bobby a shelter from the rain and sun, and I will buy him a cover for next winter.

The surgery option is 3 k and not guaranteed, neither option is, but this little 11 year old pony has a shot at full recovery, and Sharon and I are committed to making sure he gets it. Thank you again for helping us with this little bloke, it continues to make a huge difference. Caroline, Sharon and Bobby.

  • An incredible transformation!

Bobby has handled a number of invasive treatments with impeccable patience, and it has all paid off. Yes he is still a little off balance, yes his stride is still stilted from laminitis but with 4 weekly hoof treatments and drenching for his gut issues, he looks 100% better. Yesterday I visited him with my nine year old Neighbor who helped in his rescue. We taught him how to play with a Swiss ball and after a while he started rolling it back to us. Such a little darling. We know face the tough decisions about how we need to treat his penile cancer. We are beyond thankful for the money raised on this site which has covered over half the vet bills so far. I am reaching out to many organisations for support as we need to raise 3 thousand dollars for his surgery, and my friends have been more than generous. This little pony is testimony to many peoples help, yes we have a long way to go but we remain incredibly thankful. Caroline, Bobby, And Sharon.

  • Good news from the x-rays.

      6 November 2020

Here is the analogy. A good internal hoof looks like a good thick jandal, a poor non salvageable hoof looks like a worn out jandal. Bobby’s hooves are in the middle which means his hooves will be okay with 4 weekly trims for the foreseeable future. His muscle tone and exercise can now be steadily increased.

We are thrilled that we can know make some more decisions about going further. We are hesitant to go the radiation route for his cancer, as it is painful and will impact him dreadfully. The surgery is around 3k , so I will be approaching philanthropy societies to help us. If you can provide me any suggestions, I would appreciate this. He is moving better, he is happier and everyone who meets him continues to fall in love with him.

  • Bobby had his hooves x rayed today.

      4 November 2020

What an incredible little boy, he watched the vet and stood dead still while they x rayed his hooves. The outcome of this X-ray will give us definitive evidence of how advanced his laminitis is, and if we can save him. Thank-you for helping him, we are still fundraising as the cost of the X-rays are around $650 and our debt to the vet stands at $500 plus the cost for these x rays. I am humbled by your help, and we are saving an incredible little pony. Thank you x

  • Bobby has a new friend.

Bobby has made friends with a Sharpei ( Rolly dog) who is a rescue dog. They seem to be developing such a great friendship, spending all day together just hanging out. They are probably holding meetings about all the jabs, tests and interventions they are enduring!

  • Our care of Bobbies hooves continues

      30 October 2020

Bobby continues to have 4 weekly trims of his hooves which he is becoming more comfortable with, and is happier standing for long periods of time. Hi coat is looking better and his little personality is coming back. He is very patient with all our intrusive interventions, and we have a loving little horse. My heartfelt thanks for helping us with these initial huge costs to save him.

  • Bobby's coat is now free of lice, tics and flakey skin

      27 October 2020

When I bought Bobby home we immediately started work on cleaning his coat of tics and lice. He has cleaned up very white.

Two teeth have been removed under anesthetic and he is eating his small amounts of hard feed to improve his gut. His x-rays on his feet are next week to see if this patient little kind man can be saved, after foundering multiple times. You can see how he stands resting his hind leg and the "slumping" of his rump. This is the result of his multiple founders and laminitis.
