To save this little rescue pony.
Waikato
I rescued Bobby from a dire situation, he is a welsh mountain dapple grey who is only eleven years old. I immediately procured a farrier as Bobby had foundered, and his hooves were so long he could not walk. The work on his hooves is going to take consecutive sessions with the farrier to slowly trim his hooves back.
A full vet check has shown us that he needed 2 impacted and broken teeth removed, his badly infected penis cleaned and a biopsy taken. He was anaesthetized last week and the two broken teeth have been removed and he has a "Colgate smile", I am happy to report.
Bobby's hooves now need X-rays as a next step, to see if he can be saved. The biopsy taken from his infected penis has also shown that he has penile cancer. While there are still many processes and decisions to be made about this little fella, my friend Sharon and I want to do everything possible to give him comfort and love, no matter what the outcome. The x-rays may show that he cannot be saved, however I will provide updates to you as this will change the monetary support we are asking for.
He is a loving, kind, gentle little boy who thrives on company and loves positive attention , and lets us know this by nuzzling and pushing us, and calling out to us . His ongoing farrier, costs, vet bills and his potential chemo treatment are more than we can afford, as he is not the only animal we have rescued. The long term aim is for Bobby to become a lead rein pony for the foster children of my good friend who also rescues ponies. I hope you can help Bobby and I, in asking for short term help with these large initial costs to get him well. Once we are through this hurdle we are more than happy to pay for the ongoing maintenance costs for Bobby. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Farrier bills, vet bills, x ray bills and a course of chemo for this rescue pony. If I exceed the target asked for, the money will be donated to a private horse protection agency.
