ADHD Help Hub
Waihi, Waikato
There is a lack of awareness around ADHD and the bahaviors associated with it.
We would like to provide a place where people can go for advice or help from those who actually know what it's like to have ADHD or have children who have it. We can provide practical support and coping tools, as well as advice and even an ear to listen or shoulder to cry on.
The diagnosis process can be quite disheartening and frustrating, so we propose to be the first port of call for navigation through the very real reality of having ADHD.
We would also like to advocate for those who need assistance in navigating their condition and help access the resources and funding to properly diagnose and help with managing the condition in a practical sense. At present there is nowhere to go and nobody knows for sure how to help, so we want to create an environment where it's safe, comfortable and easy to access all the help you need. Raising awareness so it can be picked up early is important for kids to get the support they need instead of being labelled "difficult or naughty". So we are writing a continuing book series based on our life experience as a family with ADHD, which we want to make available in schools and libraries around the world with insight to parenting and growing up with ADHD. There's something special about the books though that is going to cost us a little bit to make, but it'll be worth it! Please send feedback and suggestions, all are welcome!
Publication of book series, hiring of a decent facility for the bigger dream of an ADHD headquarters, complete with in-house psychiatrist and counsellors 24/7.
If I don't raise the lot, I'll take what I raise and approach some businesses for sponsorship. I'll also pour what I can into a long term investment so we can get to our goals faster.
