  • A lot has happened!!

Wow it’s been a while since I updated this page!!

I’ll start from after her last surgery on 27/11/2017

The Night after her big day was rocky we knew that was going to happen her wee body had gone through a lot already. She pushed through and was doing well.

Come Thursday night things started happening I wasn’t to sure what was going on but it all started around 9:30pm she wasn’t behaving and started needing all these drugs. It was getting a bit much so I said goodnight and left to go back to the house. I had just go into bed and was starting to snuggle down for the night then I got a call at 12:45am to come up to the hospital immediately. I never moved so fast in my life I jumped out of bed threw on my clothes and just started running we are about 10 min walk from the hospital I ran the whole way which includes a very steep hill. I was so scared. When I arrived I fell into the nurses arms. Isla wasn’t being able to maintain a healthy bloody pressure she was on about 5 different meds to help and still it wasn’t helping her. Islas bedspace had doctors and nurses everywhere I rang her dad to come up as it wasn’t looking good. I then rang my dad at 1am and balled my eyes out he gave me words I will always cherish.

The consultant came in as we were sitting with Isla and broke news no parent wants to hear she said little Isla probably wouldn’t make it through the night let alone the next hour. We felt sick. I processed it as much as I could and I decided no this is not going to happen!!!

We sat next to Islas bedspace holding her hand for hours just talking and praying and not letting one negative word near her. The nurses set up an empty room for us to get some rest if we wanted to. Her numbers started going up and we chose to try and get some rest we had Mia, Islas 3 year old sister with us aswell.

Come morning Isla was still with us, she fought with all her strength through the night

Fast forward to 24 hours later she was doing so much better she was off all the drugs they had put her on. She certainly showed them who’s boss and we all couldn’t be happier she proved everyone wrong.

Finally 17 days after her surgery she moved off the ventilator and onto her famous bubble cpap haha.

Today I got a cuddle after 18 long days. I’ve had so many nurses come and see Isla and say how well she is looking and how amazing she is for fighting this!!

A lot has happened but I truly believe Isla is here for a reason and Father God had everything to do with saving her life that scary night.

  • A long road ahead!!!

Last Wednesday our family was dealt a massive blow little Isla needed another surgery as the Stuches were stronger than Islas valve tissue and it had ripped also the hole that was fully closed was starting the get bigger :(

Well Monday came and little Isla had her second surgery she came through and suprised all the doctors and nurses how well she pulled through and coped but it was still so so scary as it was so much more risky

Last night the upper left lobe (her upper left lung) had collapsed and this morning her whole left lung has collapsed they are doing a scan and if there is fluid in it they may put in another drain to get rid of the fluid or they may open her chest up so her lungs and heart have more room!!

Little Isla is a huge fighter at only 13 weeks old she came 7 weeks early at 6 weeks old she had her first open heart surgery and then she had another at 12 weeks then the left lung collapsed although this isn’t good Isla is definitely here for a reason I truly believe father God is protecting her. Please keep praying for our darling little Isla xoxox

  • Not good news 😢

      23 November 2017

Little Isla had an echo on Tuesday and what to doctors saw suprised them a lot.

Islas hole that didn't get fully closed is starting to open and get bigger and her valve is leaking

This means they want to operate again 😢 This surgery is a lot more risky and I'm so scared.

Isla is working too hard now and they want to keep her as relaxed as possible so they are putting her back on the ventilator.

Please I ask everyone to pray and send good vibes to our baby girl and to our family to get through this 😢😢

  • NJ Tube!!

      22 November 2017

Today Isla had a NJ tube inserted. This tube goes through her nose like a normal tube but instead on going into her tummy it bypasses and goes into her intestines. Hopefully this will stop her spilling and vomiting so much.

She's a wee trooper and we can't wait to be back in chch and work slowly to finally bring her home and be a proper family little Isla is now 12 weeks old 😱😱😱😱

Another good wee step for little Isla 😍😍

We have had another weight gain and are resting at 3.32kg (Mia was 3.33kg at birth 😂)

Even after letting go of four days of build up (yes poop lol) we still didn't loose anything!!!

We had an hour an a half on high flow and did really well. Just need to get off these bubbles for good so we can come home!!!!

Little Isla is still having issues gaining weight she's back down to 3kg and she's also back on her bubbles we arnt to sure why but she was working extra hard something not normal for Isla but all stats were fine and her X-ray didn't show anything so hopefully she just needed a wee break and she'll be back on her high flow soon!

On a higher note Isla made it 5 almost 6 days on high flow which is amazing her last attempt was only 2 days so she's definitely getting stronger 😍😍😍

  • The big 3!!!!

      6 November 2017

Little Isla has hit the big 3kg mark she will be 10 weeks on Wednesday and she was born weighing 2.1kg her weight has been all over the show so this is massive not just for Isla but for all of us!!!!

    Keep gaining baby girl!!!

Isla had another bath today and she loves it, it calms her down so much and she settles so easily. While getting dry and dressed she had her bubble cpap off and coped amazingly well it was atleast 5 minutes of her breathing completely by herself. Very proud parents of our baby girl!!!!

Isla is still on her bubble cpap but no oxygen just pressure to help keep her lungs open so she doesn't have to work so hard. The next steps is the start bringing her pressures down to eventually come off her cpap.

Today I also made up her feed the first time I've ever done it love being involved as much as I can

Thankyou for everyone following little Islas journey xxx
