Elderly man seeking financial support

Okaihau, Northland

Due to circumstances outside his control my good friend John is without a home and he is reaching out today to anyone who may be kind enough to help.

John has two family dogs and has been living in hardship since his rental was sold and he became homeless as no emergency housing was provided by MSD or Housing New Zealand.

John has been subjected to living in an uninhabitable dwelling in a 2 room tent which was battered in 4 major storms drenching his bed, clothing and belongings.

Living on the margins is physically demanding especially for someone who has COPD like John who has lost 20kg since these life changing events have happened.

John was living in a rental home for seven years after his wifes passing from cancer at home. The house went on the market and sold soon afterwards, he found it very difficult to secure a place as nothing that was advertising permitted two small dogs, so he was sleeping in his vehicle at the beach for a couple months now he is living on bare land in his tent.

John hopes of placing a cabin on the property before winter, some type of shower and toilet system and a proper gate and fence is also something that would be a huge help.

Any donations of materials or financial assistance no matter how small will be extremely welcomed and appreciated.
