Raising funds for my mokopuna (grandson), Osaiah, who has an intellectual disability and austism, so he can travel to Japan with his school.
Nationwide
As a young man, 15 years old, who has been diagnosed with autism and an intellectual disability of language delay, Osaiah will always have a lifetime of challenges ahead of him.
Osaiah is a Year 11 student at Otaki College and has been studying Japanese, a subject he opted to take because of his interest in anime and digital media.
At the beginning of the year, his teacher mentioned that there would be a possible trip to Japan in 2019 and she would be more than happy to take Osaiah; she has been his teacher from the beginning and is therefore aware of his needs and capabilities. Due to unforeseen circumstances, it has only just been confirmed, that the trip is now taking place this year; which unfortunately doesn’t allow time for the school to help students and their families to fundraise for the trip.
As this is such an amazing experience for any student to travel overseas with the school, it is even moreso for Osaiah, due to his condition and I would really like to be able to give Osaiah this opportunity.
Osaiah is my mokopuna (grandson) and as a beneficiary, being his caregiver, I, unfortunately do not have the means to pay for the trip. So I am swallowing my pride and asking for help, so that Osaiah can hopefully have, what will be a trip of a lifetime.
Grateful, wouldn't even begin to cover how appreciative I would be of any donations that will bring this desire to fruition.
I am more than happy to provide a draft copy of the proposed itinerary if any would like to see what they are donating for.
Osaiah is my 15 year old mokopuna (grandson) who has autism and an intellectual disability. Through his school, Otaki College, he has the opportunity to travel to Japan, so I am hoping to raise funds to give him the chance to experience this amazing opportunity and trip of a lifetime and as his caregiver and a beneficiary, I do not have the means to do this on my own.
The money raised will be used to go towards the airfares and other associated costs for the trip, including travel within Japan, accommodation and food etc. Any surplus, will be used to help pay for other costs, passport and incidentals.
Ten Pin Bowling 5 July 2018
Osaiah has recently started playing Ten Pin Bowling as part of a league organised via Special Olympics, for people with disabilities.
Although he has only been going for approximately six weeks, it is now a part of his routine and he looks forward to going.
Keep up the good work, Osaiah.
Truly humbled and grateful for your support towards my moko
