Donations to help local shopkeeper who lost her new store after the Glen Innes Winz fire
Glen Innes, Auckland
The recent fire at Winz in Glen Innes also destroyed the adjacent shop. Local resident Wendy Li, who had owned and operated her outdoor sports and hardware store in the Mayfair Place for many years, had only started to move into the shop a few days before the fire. The shop was also devastated by the fire. Wendy had only just signed a new lease after the landlord had refurbished the shop. Wendy was excited to move in and was setting up the shop when she heard there had been a fire. Unfortunately she had not had time to insure the stock, shelves and furniture as she was still moving in when the fire struck. The fire service has prevented anyone entering the site because it is too dangerous, so Wendy has been unable to recover any items. She is faced with starting over again to find a new location as a full demolition and rebuild is likely, replacing the stock and shop furniture. Wendy has been a local shopkeeper for many years and any donations would be gratefully accepted to help her during her time of need.
