Dylan Betts - aged 10 was so inspired by the 99 year old Tom Moore in England who walked 100 laps of his garden to raise funds for their health service, that Dylan said "who can we help here"?!
After a bit of a chat about what might the effects of the lockdown might mean to some families Dylan decided that Food Bank would be a good charity to donate to as they help a lot of people are in need.
Dylan is going to run a 'Lockdown Marathon' - he is running 42.195kms.
Update and answers to questions: Dylan checked with Food Bank New Plymouth before going ahead with this. They’re very happy and have emailed messages of support from both the manager and trustees. In the spirt of Tom Moore’s inspiring fundraising, this is a cumulative marathon, with the aim of finishing on what potentially may be the last day of lockdown, Wednesday 22 April. On day 1, Sunday 19th Dylan ran 11.82kms.
