Our prayers have been answered and Christmas miracles really do come true- Lola has made a full recovery from her operation and been declared ‘cancer free’.

It’s been a challenging 7 months. After 127hrs of chemo, 7 transfusion, and many many clinic appointments, and a major operation, she just kept going with absolute grit and determination. Lola is a force to be reconned with and we are truly truly blessed to have gone through all these hurdles with success. We have our little girl back. X

Thank you all for your support- it’s been a challenging year.

Extra big hugs for your little ones, and family this Christmas, and wishing you all a healthy happy new year.

    Xx Lola and her people.

  • Getting through chemo

Lola is almost at her last cycle of chemo. It’s been more demanding on her little body recently, lots of transfusions to keep building up what Chemo knocks back.

Surgery is now on the horizon so we are all trying to ‘pace make’ at this stage in the journey- it’s a marathon not a sprint after all.

It will be an incredibly complex surgery- which we approach with intrepidation and our best energy.

We’re fortunate to have a strong surgical team and an even stronger patient.

At this stage we feel we all have to build up what chemo knocks back together. After all- we’re on the road to recovery-as a family, and that’s exactly Lola and her people will do.

Thank you for the ongoing support and kind words. x

  • Progress and Play

Lola has been bright as a button recently, playing heaps with her play kitchen at home (thank you donations) and the one in the hospital and showing more interest in food- loves a poppadum like her Mum&Dad. We’ve loved seeing her energy.

Today she starts chemo cycle 5, always tear jerking to see knowing it’ll knock her back after a peak of brightness but - news in- the MRI last week has shown the tumour is shrinking in all dimensions! We’re all staying strong for her and realistically optimistic given the progress!

We keep things light, playful and she is admittedly spoilt rotten!

We call chemo “the other playroom” and she believes she goes out to a different place to play and smiles her way in. She totally owns it- helps the nurses with their obs, choses and puts on her blood pressure cuff, will hold out her lines ready and smiling. This is the stark contrast of paediatric oncology that will never fail to both heal and bruise my heart.

Thank you for the kind words and support that soften our journey to recovery. Team Bear-Ganesh 👊🏾👊🏽👊🏼👊

We have a big milestone in Lola’s journey- Lola is now over the half way mark with her chemo and is now joined by a new family member; our Ray of sunshine ‘Ray Kosala Ganesh’.

Lola is doing well and looking quite strong these days, there’s lots of little hurdles, managing her pic line, daily feeds and meds and lots of hospital appointments, but her resilience is always shining through and each strong day leads to another strong week.

Gihan won’t be returning to work until we know how this truly pans out for Lola, so all the support is valued. Life is busy with Lola and now a newborn. We’re taking the opportunity to embrace “couples mat leave” and feel full in our hearts we are dedicating our time soley to our little bears. Thank you for your love and virtual hugs x
