Lolo Rogelio “Roger” Lacson was full of life—strong, cheerful, and cracking jokes, even at the age of 85. He loved watching sports and spending time with his family. A few weeks ago, his blood pressure became unstable.
Then, last Mon(10 Mar), while watching his granddaughter’s bowling game, he suddenly slumped forward. We thought he had just dozed off but noticed something was wrong when he wouldn't wake up.
We rushed him to the hospital. On the way, he briefly woke up, clutching his chest, confused. At the ER, doctors worked fast and the tests confirmed our worst fear... he suffered a heart attack. By early Tue(11 Mar), he was in the ICU. He needed an emergency surgery, so that night, we transferred him to another hospital where specialists could operate on him.
At 4 AM, Wed(12 Mar), the doctors managed to clear the blockage, restoring the blood flow in his heart but it was already too weak. When he woke up, he opened his eyes, even lifted his head to find us.
We thought we had more time, but everything changed when he went into cardiac arrest. Doctors fought for him, giving ten rounds of medication—far beyond the usual three. Machines kept him breathing, but we knew lolo never wanted to live that way.
That same day, at 1:11 PM, we faced the hardest decision of our lives and had to let him go.
It happened so fast. We weren’t ready but we’re grateful for every moment we had. Life is fragile, and sometimes, the right help at the right moment makes all the difference.
Lolo Roger (Rogelio Aquino Lacson) was the best granddad we could ask for. He was our mentor, supporter, and biggest cheerleader.
He was always there for us, filling our lives with love, wisdom, and laughter. We were so lucky to have him.
We are seeking donations to help cover Lolo Roger’s medical and funeral costs back in the Philippines. Your support will ease the financial burden on our family during this difficult time. Any contribution, big or small, is deeply appreciated. Thank you for your kindness.
