Raising money to pay for non-funded medication Cetuximab (Erbitux) for the treatment of bowel cancer.
Auckland
Ronnie has lived in NZ for 30 years where he played basketball professionally throughout NZ. When he retired from professional basketball, he then went on to join an amazing team as a mental health nursing care assistant, who spends many shifts talking to and caring for patients that suffer varying degrees of mental illness in an Acute ward at Waitemata district health and has been there for the past 18 years.
Ronnie has been battling stage 4 bowel cancer for the past 4 months, the first 3 months of chemotherapy has not worked so we are now needing to start a non-funded chemo medication his Oncologist wants to trial him on Cetuximab (Erbitux) and we need to get started on this pronto.
I have no doubt we can raise the money needed for Ronnie to fight this battle, he is the most caring, charismatic man and it shows through his loyal followers from when he played pro basketball, and 18 years of working with health professionals, Psychiatrist, Doctors, nursing staff, health care assistants, psychologists and occupational therapists.
He is a very caring person and I know if we can all give a little it will help with the financial burden that he and his family is now facing. This is huge and without these funds there holds so much uncertainty. This is a man with a heart of gold that would do anything for others and now it's time for us to give a little back.
Every little bit counts, we need to raise $40,000 and we need to move quick.
Updated on 1/02 - All funds raised will be released to Carrie Richmond-Joyner, to support the family with costs for the funeral and anything that will help ease any financial strain in this extremely sad time.

It is with a very heavy heart that I write to inform of Ronnie’s passing last night.
A sudden turn that decided it was Ronnie’s time to leave.
Gone but never forgotten, fly high gentle giant.
