Moving shortly to Europe to start a career in ballet.
Wellington
My name is Louise Camelbeke. I am 18 years old and grew up in New Zealand. I began ballet at 7, and at 13 I knew I wanted to pursue a career in dance. I left home at 16 to start studying full time at the New Zealand School of Dance as a classical major. In my second year, I had the opportunity to perform with the Royal New Zealand Ballet during my secondment and was able to get an insight on how a company prepares for performances, and it was so enriching.
Earlier this year I had the privilege of participating in one of the most well reputed ballet competitions, the Prix De Lausanne in Montreux, Switzerland. It was a dream come true to be a part of it.
From this incredible experience, I have been offered a contract with a prestigious company in Europe, starting this year in July.
I am so excited about this amazing opportunity and I am really looking forward to dancing in Europe. Moving to a new country across the world is quite nerve wracking especially with only a few suitcases and some pointe shoes! With the small amount I have managed to put aside, I would also be extremely grateful for any financial contribution/support, which would go towards my travel and settling in costs for Europe. Last year whilst I had a student job, my savings went towards pointe shoes and essentials for dancing as well as covid related costs such as PCR tests and certificates to be able to fly to Switzerland.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my page
My sincere appreciation and thanks!
