Louise Mills memorial space

$1,695 of $750 goal
Given by 28 generous donors in 4 weeks

Raising funds to erect a memorial park bench in Lou's name on the beachfront at Titahi Bay.

Wellington

For many of us the last few months have been a challenging time. Losing Louise has changed our lives forever, yet we are all the better for having her in our lives and we have created memories we will forever treasure

Friends and family have asked about a memorial for Lou and we’re blessed (with Lou’s guidance I’m sure) to have been given permission to erect a new park bench in Lou’s name on the beachfront at Titahi Bay.

The view is breathtaking, starting at the brightly coloured boat sheds, you’re then able to take in the entire beach.

This will be not only be a space for those of us who knew and loved her but for others in the community to learn her name and appreciate that she continues to give to the world, even though she’s no longer with us.

The funds raised will be used for the cost of the bench, installation, a plaque and the planting of a flax next to it to invite the tui to join those who rest their weary legs #lousplace

We would love you to be part of creating this space. All contributions are greatly appreciated, and we know Lou would love the fact that those who knew and loved her are working together to create something magical for others. Let’s work together to make the magic happen, just like Lou made the magic happen.

I’m a friend of louises and have liaised with the porirua city council on behalf of the family to identify a space for the memorial. I will be making the payment to the council for the bench and purchasing the plaque and plants for planting.

Use of funds

The funds raised will be used for the cost of the bench, installation, a plaque and the planting of a flax next to it to invite the tui to join those who rest their weary legs #lousplace. Any surplus funds will be donated to the SPCA in Louises name.

Let's celebrate Louise (this Saturday at 2pm)  3 November 2021

Hello to all Louise’s family and friends,

Just a quick reminder of the gathering at Louise's memorial bench (#Lousplace) this coming Saturday 6th November at 2pm. It's a year since we lost Louise, so lets take this opportunity to celebrate her life and have an early celebration of her birthday.

Join family and friends for a snack and a drink at #Lousplace #Lousplace is located at the North end of Titahi Bay beach. Once you walk across the beach past the boatsheds, but before the rocks, there are some concrete steps up to her bench. Vehicle access is also via Lambley Road, althought there is limited parking available.

If we know in advance that the weather is wet, we will advise….perhaps an alternative meeting place. If this is necessary an update will be posted to Louise's memorial page (Louise's facebook page) on the day.

While I didn’t know you that well, your smile and bubbly personality could light up the room/CrossFit class. Whenever I coached I was always grateful for your abundance of energy and enthusiasm towards whatever we were doing. I know you are missed and my thoughts are with all your friends and family.
