Louis has now been moved to to the Otara Spinal Unit:

If you are going to be up in AK, it would be great for Louis to have visitors! (Check out the website above for more information).

Louis is having ups and downs, but has had a tour of the Unit, and a slight workout this morning which has helped his frame of mind.

The picture shows him sitting up by himself! :)

  • Solid Food & other Great news!

      4 July 2016

    From Louis' Dad Pete:

Louis has had a solid brekkie this morning of toast and a wheatbix. He thought it was his best feed ever after a whole week of liquid!

Hopefully this will give him some energy as they are talking about getting him up to take a few steps - We're winning!

Louis is seeing his pain specialist tomorrow to work out the correct 'cocktail' and there is talk of moving him to the rehab centre next week.

    --------------------------------------------------

Keep up the great work Louis!

So great to see all the wonderful support from such a kind and generous community! Thanks everyone for helping make such a difference. :)

Louis has had his first solid food for brekkie this morning - some toast and a wheatbix - He thought it was his best feed ever after being sustained on liquid until now!

Doctors are talking about getting him up to take a few steps - great stuff! Louis' pain specialist is seeing him tomorrow, and he will likely be moved to the rehab centre next week.

So great to see so many people sending positive thoughts of support for you and your family Louis. Keep up the great progress! :)

  • Update 30 June

      1 July 2016

Louis went in to surgery just after 9am on the 29th of June. He will recuperate at Middlemore and then will be transferred to the Auckland Spinal Unit for rehabilitation - at this stage 6 to 8 weeks. His operation involved the fusing of his C4&5 and this has enabled the removal of the Halo brace, replacing with a cervical collar.

Louis is in good spirits and enjoyed his TBC visitors.

The New Zealand Rugby Foundation are involved in supporting Louis and his family which is great!

Thank you again to all the people's amazing support and donations. :)
