Financially helping Katie & her Family after a serious car accident on the way home from a rough week hospital with her 2 year old son.

Northland

For those of you who haven't yet had the pleasure of knowing Katie and her family, and those of you who do, will know that they have had a really rough time in life lately. Katie spent a long, very scary week in hospital with her two and a half years old son, Charlie, who had been seriously ill. To add to her worries she also spent that week being away from her daughter, Cherry, which was very hard as it had been the longest time they’ve ever been apart in the nearly 5 years of her life. Thankfully Katie’s incredible mum, lovingly took in her Granddaughter so that Katie could put all her energy into Charlie’s recovery.

Finally after the most terrifying time in hospital, Charlie was discharged on Thursday the 9th of May. Excited, relieved and looking forward to their own beds, Katie's mum and Cherry picked Katie and Charlie up from hospital. On their journey, just 10 minutes away from home, they were rear-ended Their car was sent flying across the centre lane and into a barrier on the other side of the road, thankfully the oncoming truck and trailer unit stopped in time. They are so incredibly lucky to be alive and we are so thankful to still have them here with us. They all have whip lash but thankfully they all managed to get out of the car ok, unfortunately Katie took the brunt of the crash hitting her head and face against the window, she has a badly broken nose, concussion, back and hip injuries.

Due to these circumstances this kind, hard working, full time mum of two, business owner and wife has had to close her business to recover and get their lives back on track. This means losing a much-needed second income, so this is where this beautiful “give a little” page comes in.

As friends of the family we want to help them by taking away some financial strain and worry so Katie can just focus on recovering and being with her husband and children. Unfortunately when life deals you a heavy hand, the day-to-day costs of living aren't as sympathetic. Yes ACC are helping but it still doesn't cover the full cost of their appointments and their medical recovery bills are starting to stack up. So we would greatly appreciate any donation, big or small to help them through this hard time.

Katie and her mother are both the most selfless, kind and caring human beings to have as friends, not to mention incredible mothers and wives.

On top of her already busy life, Katie puts so much time into empowering other woman with her honest blogs about motherhood and life on Facebook. Even after going through her own personal hardships in the past, she will put everyone else before herself, offering comfort, support and good vent over a cup of tea (which she won't let you make either.) Katie and the Palmer tribe, you all deserve to have you cup filled back up with love and support after filling up so many others. We wish you a speedy recovery and hope this gives you one less thing to worry about. xx

Good friends with the beneficiary, want to be able help Katie and their family in a time of need as they have done the same for me and so many others.

Use of funds

Katie has had to close her business due to her physical injuries after the car accident. Part of the treatment costs are covered by ACC but this is all they will be covering. The funds raised will be going towards financially supporting the family after the temporary loss of their second income. Any money donated is greatly appreciated.
