On March 11 a freak accident left Lui Teo with catastrophic bruising and damage to his spinal cord. He needs your support for his rehab.
Auckland
It was Lui Te'o's first game for Marist having had a promising school career at De La Salle College. He had his whole rugby dream and study/career ahead of him.
His life has changed forever.
Lui took a knee into the back of his neck which caused catastrophic bruising and damage to his spinal cord. The surgeons couldn’t operate as there was no damage to the vertebrae. The surgeons are clinical in their prognosis and did not hold out much hope.
With no medical explanation, Lui defied all odds and now walks with two crutches. He also needs to use his manual wheel chair often due to fatigue and effects of cold.
He has also lost bowel and bladder control.
Unfortunately Lui also has a severe spasticity conditions which affect his right leg which will require long term intervention. He can type with two fingers.
Lui is a bright young man who enjoys the simple things in life, hanging with his friends and family, and focusing on his Computer Technology studies. Despite this tragic accident Lui does not stop smiling, his positive attitude to life is impressive.
Lui now needs your help to assist him with his future rehabilitation, education and creating a NEW vision.
Funds raised are deposited into a dedicated bank account which will be managed by The Lui Te’o Trustees set up by the NZ Rugby Foundation.
