On Friday 11 March 2016 Marist rugby player Lui Teo’s life changed forever.
In a pre-season, Lui took a knee into the back of his neck which caused catastrophic bruising and damage to his spinal cord.
The surgeons couldn’t operate as there was no damage to the vertebrae. The surgeons, clinical in their prognosis, did not hold out much hope. Lui however never lost faith and now walks with two crutches. He also needs to use his manual wheel chair often due to fatigue and effects of cold
Unfortunately Lui also has a severe spasticity conditions which affect his right leg which will require long term intervention. He can type with two fingers.
Lui is a bright young man who enjoys the simple things in life, hanging with his friends and family, and focusing on his Computer Technology studies. Despite this tragic accident Lui does not stop smiling, his positive attitude to life is impressive.
Lui now needs your help to assist him with his future rehabilitation, education and creating a NEW vision.
Funds raised are deposited into a dedicated bank account which will be managed by The Lui Te’o Trustees set up by the NZ Rugby Foundation.
As manager of Marist Rugby Club I am driving the fundraising for Lui
