Christchurch resident Chris Jamieson is a proud *Lumbersexual who is growing his beard (even bigger) for charity, with the almighty shave-off scheduled for November 2015.
His campaign, dubbed "The Great Lumbersexual Shave-off", will raise funds and awareness for the Movember Foundation.
Chris has supported some of his close friends and family members in their personal battle against cancer. He says the importance of men’s health really hit home after becoming a father to his 12-month-old daughter Fleur.
He hopes to raise $10,000 for the Movember Foundation to help men suffering from prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health issues through the provision of breakthrough research and better support services.
To get his campaign off the ground, Chris has setup a Facebook page dedicated to honoring men with facial hair called The Lumbersexual Appreciation Association.
He has put the call out to the local community to come up with ideas or tasks they want him to complete leading up to the big shave. If you would like to make a suggestion, simply ‘like’ The Lumbersexual Appreciation Association's Facebook page and post your idea to the page’s wall or send a private message.

*Lumbersexual is the new-age term used to describe the lovechild of a metro and a lumberjack – where rugged meets slick, brawn meets brains and flannel shirts meet skinny jeans.
